Hand Stamped Coloring Book and Prints

Debuting at the SAD Fair is my hand stamped coloring book! Each page was made with stamps I hand carved then used to create a professionally printed coloring book.

Want an original piece of artwork you can embellish or frame? Buy hand stamped coloring sheets on hot press watercolor paper so you can color or paint them in your preferred media. Each sheet is a one-of-a-kind composition.

SAD Fair Exclusive!

As I was making the coloring book pages, I made a bunch of test prints. Instead of throwing them away, I marbled them a rainbow of colors. Each sheet is one-of-a-kind, and most have prints on both the front and back.

To make them accessible, I’ve priced them as pay-what-you-want, up to 50% off of the list price.

Soil Chromatography

Using this alternative photography technique, I extract compounds and bacteria from plants. Then I illuminate them using silver nitrate, revealing the unseen vitality in the land beneath our feet.

I’ve spent the past 2.5 years expanding the artistic capabilities of soil chromatography, a soil science test commonly used by farmers.

A whole world lives inside of every plant. Without the aid of a microscope, see the normally invisible compounds inside plants and the bacteria that live on them. Each color and striation in the chromatograms denotes a different compound or bacteria.

Cyanotypes

Cyanotypes are photographic blueprints. Choose from original and giclee prints as well as curtains.

The Cai Modeling Materials

DIY compostable and recyclable, plastic-free modeling materials

a light skinned hand holding a lantern, the body of which is made with cai board and computer paper, and the is made from cai clay

Pasta Water for Designers

I developed the Cai Modeling Materials for my graduate thesis using traditional paper making techniques. I chose this line of research because as creatives, we make things but we rarely make our own materials and tools. My hope is that by helping others make their own custom materials, we can all become a little more autonomous from corporations while lowering our negative impact on the planet.

Chefs use pasta water to flavor and thicken food. Designers need to think like chefs and give waste materials new life. The “Pasta Water for Designers” eBook and printed workbook teach you how to make the Cai Modeling Materials using home waste materials and tools in your kitchen.

Hi! My name is Mari (they/she).

I am a Eurasian Toisanese maker who thinks that art, craft, and design are at heart the same things. Colonialism made them into hierarchies, but the same creativity that goes into making art is used in cooking, crafting, and so much more.

Everyone is creative. Down with hierarchies.

Does my range of products seem wide? Well, that’s what happens when you’re an AuDHDer who loves to learn new things. The link tying them all together is a love of process and experimentation, with inspiration from nature, science, and history.

One of my diagnoses is MCAS, and my major triggers include many of the eight common allergens, so all of my products have been made without coming into contact with wheat, dairy, or eggs. I live with two cats, and try to keep them separate from any art I sell, but cannot guarantee totally cat allergen-safe products for people with strong allergies.
